Hello everyone, I wanted to let you know I’ll be doing a regular newsletter within the next couple of days with some new things
being added, more information I’ve found concerning pet health, the usual stuff. I PROMISE!!! LOL. Today though is about Alex. It’
s 3 years today that she left me and started her mission as an archangel for kitties everywhere. I believe she’s at that status now,
I’m quite sure she’s earned it. Don’t worry, I’m not spending the day thinking about it and although I’m having my small moments, I
plan on being outside in the sunshine, working with my gorgeous garden. Life springs anew there every day and it’s there for me
to remember that. I usually buy a new perennial to plant in her honor on this day but today I’ll be getting 3 in honor of my recent
family losses.

The work goes on. More animals need our help and somewhere on a cloud with a beautiful rainbow over a bridge, butterflies and
lots of other pets with wings…is my girl looking down on all of us and feeling proud of the work we’ve all been doing in her name
and in the name of so many. I choose to think of her this way. It helps me get through these times. I’ve made a new business card
as you can see, hope you like it. This for sure is my Alex in the picture.

I’ve written a letter to Alex via her Catster diary if anyone would like to read it, it’s not terribly sad but I do know some of you who
have too much of a hard time reading these letters I do for her. It’s okay, please don’t bring yourself to read it if you can’t. I don’t
mind, I know your heart. Your pain is still so fresh as well. My dear friends who’ve lost so many of your own babies to this horrible
disease. We share our love for each other and these precious angels, we share the pain and heartache of saying goodbye to
them and we share the joy and excitement of opening our hearts again to let new little ones into our lives. For being so far away
from each other, we all share so much and so deeply.

www.catster.com/cats/1127878/diary/Diary_of_an_angel/728035, when you get to the bottom, roll your mouse over the bold part
and listen to the beautiful song. It’s one of my favorites.

Thank you all for sharing the good moments, the great moments and yes, the not so good moments with me. Your commitment to
helping our fur children stay and get healthy makes us united. Two days ago my loving and wonderful friend Ella said to me “The
Lord has given you the gift of advocacy for His creatures and don't you forget it!!!!” I suppose that’s the purpose for all this, losing
her, meeting all of you, etc. I can’t help wondering if she’d be here with me right now had I known more about this disease then.
Maybe yes, maybe no. Either way, we move forward with our work and try another day to help more of these creatures. We are
ALL advocates on this journey.

One of our members, Jessica told me that her parents had visited the Stella & Chewy’s raw food plant and said that it was so
clean you could do surgery there, that everyone was extremely careful while handling the food, and that they came out of there
feeling so good about the place they were willing to try raw. FINALLY a good word about a company coming straight from a pet
parent (or grandparent, LOL).

This is a very beautiful story of a man who travelled the country with his dog Lucky and wrote blogs. Lucky recently passed away
and he turned to social media to help him get through it. It’s a beautiful story of a man who loved his dog so much, he couldn’t
possibly get through it alone. Just shows you how sometimes perfect strangers can help you through the enormity of losing a
furchild.

I found this site while poking around and thought these two things were a must have. This one is Clay Paws® Cat and Puppy
Paw Print Kit which you can do at home yourself. I had never even been made aware this was an option to do when Alex passed
away so I never got one made. Now I think I’ll get a couple of kits and do them for Finney and Lacey at home myself.

The other one is an emergency decal to put on your windows and doors. Should there ever be an emergency at your home where
you need to be quickly evacuated like a fire, this let’s first responders know there are pets in your house, how many, and which
kind.

I also want to mention quickly that because this summer is almost as brutally hot as last summer, I’m noticing kitties having more
issues like vomiting, hairballs, lack of appetite, etc. Keep an eye on your sick little ones, sometimes it can spark a little
backslide. You’re all getting so good at being vigilant and recognizing the minute something isn’t right, you’re wonderful parents!
It really helps to fend things off before they get serious when a kitty has a chronic disease of any kind. But also please try not to
panic, I know that can be hard when some of your babies have been terribly ill for so long. If you’re not sure of something, you can
always ask. It’s always better to err on the side of caution.

Hello all, I wanted to get this info out to you considering this dangerous heat we’re in all over the country and even the world right
now. Yesterday we learned a very valuable lesson here at my house that I wanted to share with all of you so you don’t have the
same thing happen.

As many of you know, I live upstairs from my elderly parents (in their 80s), and care for them. We also take care of my sister’s cat
Midnight who stays on the first floor of the house with my folks. Let me first say that my parents adore her probably more than any
other pet we’ve ever had. Midnight stays with my dad in his computer room during the day and watches over him, and when they’
re watching tv in the living room, she stretches out on my mom on the recliner. Yesterday my dad accidentally locked Midnight out
in the inside porch, which IS screened and wide open to air, but it’s where their a/c’s backside is positioned from their kitchen
window, and that’s where the hot air blows! He looked for her before closing the door and locking it but she must have been
hiding under the chair or something. My mom came home from doing groceries about an hour later and found her limp! It must
have been almost 100 degrees out there. She’s fine, she drank plenty of water and managed to eat some dry food and hold it
down, the wet food, not so much. She threw up several times yesterday and last night. My dad felt SO bad he almost cried. If she
would have died, he never would have forgiven himself. It was no one’s fault, this could happen to any one of us, doesn’t have to
be someone elderly.

She’s doing much better today, ate like a horse, played and is feeling great. My poor mom cried and kissed her all day today
and told her she loves her so much! This was a tough lesson to learn and one that could have turned very tragic. I wanted to share
this with you all so you know that even when we think we know where they are, we should make SURE we know where they are.
Especially during any kind of extreme weather be it heat waves or freezing weather. Don’t worry about Midnight, she’s sucking
up all the love and mega kisses we’re willing to give her. She can’t get enough of them as far as she’s concerned and everyone
is willing to oblige.

Again, please keep yourself and your pets hydrated! Leave PLENTY of fresh, clean water out for them, even some additional
bowls in different rooms if you can. Try putting some ice cubes in their water dishes, they’re fascinated by it and it gets them to
drink. Also, if you don’t have a/c please make sure you have several fans on in your house and try to keep doors to the hottest
rooms closed so they can’t go in there. For some reason (like Midnight did) they will lay down in very hot rooms! Don’t know why,
seems crazy to me but it’s up to us to control that. You can also take a cool towel or compress and put it on their little pads if they
get hot. If your pet is not drinking enough water and they seem a little bit drained, give them a some cool water (not cold) in a
medicine syringe just to get them drinking. And I’m sure you all know this already but NEVER leave your pet, any pet, in your car.
Even with the windows cracked open, the temperature can exceed 100 degrees in there. If you see any animals in a car
anywhere with the windows up or even cracked, please report this to the police immediately! You may save a pet’s life. If you
have ferals in your neighborhood try to leave as much water out for them in a cool and shady place as you can. Also, if you have
elderly neighbors at all please try and check on them, make sure they are okay and make sure their pets are okay as well as they
may not be able to themselves.

Also, one of our members Shannon received this email this week and felt we should let everyone know:

Ko v. Natura Pet Products, Inc., Case No. 5:09-cv-02619 is a class action lawsuit in which Plaintiffs claim Natura violated
California’s Business and Professions Code when advertising their dog and cat food products. It also claims that Natura made
false and misleading statements about the human grade quality of its food in its advertisements, promotional materials and
labeling. The Defendants deny that they did anything wrong.

A $2,150,000 settlement has been reached with Natura Pet Products, Inc., Natura Pet Food, Inc., Natura Manufacturing and
Peter Atkins ("Defendants" or "Natura") in a class action lawsuit about the advertising of Natura brand dog and cat food. Natura
denies all of the claims in the lawsuit, but has agreed to the settlement to avoid the cost and burden of a trial.

Who is included? If you received this by email or mail, you are probably included. Generally, the settlement includes anyone in the
U.S. who purchased Natura brand dog or cat food products anytime between March 20, 2005 and July 8, 2011. Together these
people are called a "Class" or "Class Members."

What does the settlement provide? The maximum payment you can get is $200. A $2,150,000 settlement fund will be created by
Natura. After paying attorneys fees of up to 35% of the fund and costs and expenses of up to $60,000 to the lawyers
representing the Class; the costs associated with administering the settlement of up to $400,000; and up to $20,000 to the
Class Representative (Judy Ko), payments will be made to Class Members who submit valid claim forms.

If you purchased Innova, EVO, California Natural, HealthWise, Mother Nature, or Karma dog or cat food you could get a payment
from a class action settlement. Submit a claim online, at www.petproductsSettlement.com, or by mail by calling 1-888-768-2047.
The deadline to submit or mail your proof of claim form is January 8, 2012.

Hello all! So after what happened with accidentally locking Midnight in the hot porch with the back of the a/c, I decided to put a
thermometer out there and see how hot it would get during that heat wave. On the hottest day, it was 150 degrees in there!!!!!
Thank god we found her when we did, I don’t even want to think about how this could have turned out. Someone had also made a
great point to me about checking inside your garage for either your pets or any neighborhood pets before closing it. We have a
couple of cats around here that are constantly going in there when I’m outside gardening. I’m forever having to check to make
sure they’ve gotten out.
